What could be a better conversation starter than a cannabis-themed board game?
Invest in a few of these games, and you’ll never have to worry about running out of things to do while toking with friends. Add some tasty snacks, and you’ll solidify your position as the coolest 420-friendly host in the neighborhood.
1. Pot Farm: The Board
Game
Can’t grow weed where you live? No problem. You can plant a virtual cannabis garden with Pot Farm.
After the game went viral on Facebook, the creators launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the board game. You can still play the virtual version on your smartphone, but it’s far more enjoyable to play Pot Farm in person with 2 to 4 of your favorite herb fans.
The objective of the game is to run a profitable farm, see who can grow the kindest bud, and avoid the dreaded lawman, Ranger Dick. Playing time is around 45 minutes, so you can split the fun into several sessions.
2. Lords of Cannabis
Corruption and imperial conquest rule the day with Lords of Cannabis. (Think Lord of the Rings meets Weedville.) The strategy is simple. You steal, bargain, and eventually eradicate your enemies until you become the all-powerful Lord of Cannabis. The game is suitable for 2 to 6 players, and the playing time runs around an hour.
3. Stoner City
If you’ve ever played Monopoly, you’ll get the hang of Stoner City in no time. The objective of the game is to manage your weed empire with the help of joint and bong playing pieces. But if you land on the same square as the police car, you can’t pass GROW or collect the cash for your stash. The game is ideal for 2–5 players, and the average playing time is two hours.
4. THC: The Game
Getting baked is optional in THC, but it sure enhances the fun. You compete with 2–4 players by engaging in tongue twisters, thumb wrestling, and other bizarre activities. But don’t worry, THC only takes 30 minutes to play, so you’ll have plenty of time to catch your breath.
5. Ganjaland
All aboard, we’re off to Ganjaland! In this adult version of the popular children’s game, Candyland, players are encouraged to smoke a bowl before competing to see who reaches Cannabis Castle and earns the right to wear the Ganja Crown. The game works with 2 or more players and includes eight character pieces, a game board, 157 playing cards, and five photo props.
6. WEED The Game
This game is so hilariously entertaining, your face will hurt from laughing so much. Players grow seeds into buds, then sell their stash without getting busted by the law. Weed is suitable for 2–4 players, takes around 20 minutes to play, and comes complete with a $1,000 Obama Bill.
7. Weed Jenga
Traditional Jenga can be fun, but the modified weed version is a more creative way to blaze and have fun. Play as usual, except you assign a rule to each block. If someone pulls the wrong block and the tower collapses, they’ll have to complete the assigned task.
You can create your own game with a permanent marker or buy a premade Weed Jenga set online. Weed Jenga works with 2–8 players and has an average playing time of 20 minutes.
8. The Legendary
Underground Game of
ZONK
Your guests will light up more than their faces when they see you pull out your decorative box of ZONK. The manufacturer boasts this game as more of a cultural experience. The first person who reaches 10,000 points wins, but nobody really loses. All are encouraged to get stoned and exercise their creativity by modifying the rules. ZONK even includes a glass pipe.
9. Grass
Add this card game to your next party, and all your friends will be splitting their sides laughing. The object of Grass is to wheel and deal as much cash as you can for your grass. Stealing and narcing on competing players is encouraged for maximum entertainment. But don’t get thrown in jail, or you’ll have to pay the price! Grass is suitable for 4–6 players and the playing time runs around 60 minutes.
10. Pass the Grass
Milton-Bradley meets The Grateful Dead is the best way to describe the setup of Pass the Grass. With its easy-to-follow rules, Pass the Grass will leave you with nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile.
Penalty cards range from taking two hits to spelling complicated words like “hippopotamus.” You’ll have to recruit 2–6 players with solid lungs as plenty of smoking is part of the game!
11. Weed-Opoly
The manufacturer’s description of Weed-Opoly is, “Start at Start…End at Stoned”. The game accommodates 3–6 players who ride their tractors through the cannabis fields while facing weed trivia challenges.
12. Deluxe Weed: The Card
Game
Maximum yield is the goal of Deluxe Weed, a lively competition to see who can grow the most bud. Up to eight ganja-growing neighbors keep each other from reaching their weed harvest goals with obstacle cards like “Slash-and-Burn” and “Wendy Weed Whacker.” Typical playing time is just 20 minutes, so you can take a 420 break between rounds.
13. Stoner Fluxx
In the ultimate stoner munchie game, Stoner Fluxx players change the rules and blaze away as they try and end the drug war. The manufacturer donates 5% of all proceeds towards ending cannabis prohibition. Game playing time runs from just 5 to 30 minutes, and Stoner Fluxx works best with 2–5 players.
14. Roach Party
Gather four of your toker friends, and get ready for Roach Party. The game was originally released just after Cheech and Chong’s 1978 movie Up in Smoke. Roach Party was even featured in High Times.
Unfortunately, the game was taken out of circulation for years as the federal government closed head shops. Cannabis lovers will love this reintroduced classic. As the manufacturer says, “Win or lose, you’ll get high!”
15. 420: The Card Game
420: The Card Game is perfect for large groups or one-on-one play. The result is all the same — get high and have fun! You can get 2–52 of your closest friends to do hilarious things and find deep, stoner meaning in some of the cards played. The average playing time runs from 30–180 minutes.
